Syrian military forces continue to tighten the noose around foreign-backed militants as fierce clashes continue across the crisis-hit country.On the outskirt of Damascus, the army is targeting militant fortifications in several areas including Darayya, Beit Sahm, Jobar, al-Asali and al-Qadam.
The government forces have also clashed with insurgents holed up at the capitals Yarmouk refugee camp.
Meanwhile, army units have driven out militants from more areas across the northern city of Aleppo and in the central city of Hama.
Syrian government forces have recently conducted successful clean-up operations across the country, inflicting heavy losses on Takfiri extremists.
Syria has experienced deadly unrest since March 2011.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed in the violence fueled by foreign-sponsored militants, among them a large number of foreign nationals.
In a recent statement, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said the number of the Syrian refugees who have fled the countrys conflict has reached two million.
The UN refugee agency further said some 4.2 million people have also been displaced inside Syria since the conflict erupted in the country.
