Official praises progress of golf in Iran
TEHRAN, Sep. 19 (MNA) Head of Irans Golf Federation (IGF) Kaykavos Saeedi has expressed his satisfaction with the progress of this sport in the country.
Golf is a sport for all age groups and also is an aerobic sport. I also believe that big political decisions can be made on golf courses, Saeedi said at a news conference held in Tehran on Tuesday.

We focus on cooperation with the private sector since golf is an expensive sport. The average cost to build a golf course is $3 million, he stated.

Golf will be played at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and this shows how important this sport is. We should make golf available to everyone in Iran, Saeedi added.

We have only one golf course in Tehran and its not standard. A standard golf course has 18 holes but our course has 13 holes, and we cannot hold international tournaments, the IGF head commented.

He also said, Iran has participated in 16 golf events over the last two years and has moved up eight spots in the world rankings. We are going to take part at the Asian championship and Hong Kong tournament in October.
