Iran to enlist Mideast first industrial legacy in world heritage
TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran is after adding the Middle East's first oil well, discovered in Khuzestan Province, southeastern Iran, to the world's heritage list.
Director General of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of Khuzestan Province Afshin Heidari said the well is the first industrial heritage of the Middle East, adding the required measures for enlisting the site in world heritage list are underway.

He continued the first industrial well in Iran has been discovered 100 years ago in Suleiman Mosque district, which is 338 meters wide. It could produce 36,000 barrels of oil daily.

Heidari said 300 other oil wells were dug after discovery of the well, making Khuzestan a modern profitable place.
