TEHRAN (Tasnim) A prominent Iranian political analyst underscored Tehrans vital role in the victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement in the 33-day summer war in 2006.The Islamic Republic of Irans role in victory (of Hezbollah) in Lebanons 33-day war was crucial and vital," Yusef Gharavi told Tasnim today.
Lebanese Hezbollahs victory in the 33-day war is considered as one of the key and determining events in the Middle East," he added.
The Iranian analyst also touched upon Irans support for nations of Palestine and Lebanon against Israel, and expressed confidence that Iran would maintain its support for the anti-Israel resistance movements, Hezbollah in particular.
His remarks came a few days before the anniversary of the end of 2006 Lebanon War.
The war also called the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah War and known in Lebanon as the July War was a 33-day military conflict in Lebanon, northern Israel and the Golan Heights.
The conflict started on July 2006, and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006, though it formally ended on 8 September 2006 when Israel lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon.
The Tel Aviv regime launched two wars on Lebanon in 2000 and 2006. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed in the 33-Day War of 2006.
On both occasions, however, Hezbollah fighters defeated the Israeli forces and Tel Aviv was forced to retreat without achieving any of its objectives.
