Moscow police mass arrests 1,200 illegal Vietnamese migrants
Russian police officers have arrested what they describe as 1,200 illegal Vietnamese migrants in a massive police operation in the Russian capital of Moscow.
Today police officers detained 1,200 citizens of Vietnam who stayed in Russia illegally at a storage site in the citys east, the Moscow office of the Russian Interior Ministry announced Wednesday as cited in a RIA Novesti report.
According to the statement, 20 textile production shops designed for over 800 workplaces were also discovered at the site of the operation and mass arrests.
The police operation further led to the arrest of eight suspected organizers of the illegal workplaces, who are reportedly from Iraq, Syria, Vietnam and Azerbaijan.

Four of the suspects are Russian nationals, the report adds.

The huge operation involved more than 900 law enforcement officers.

Moscow police has recently launched a series of raids on the citys marketplaces in an effort to decriminalize them in the wake of a Saturday assault on a police officer who was seriously injured at a market place when attacked by an angry mob.
