Iran builds device to freeze animal, plant cells
TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian experts have built a digital system for freezing plant and animal cells for the first time in the country.
The device facilitates freezing sex cells including sperm, egg and embryo, Hamid Mirzakhani, the project director told ISNA, adding the locally-made system helps freezing desirable livestock sperms with high genetic values.

The foreign versions of the system are only made by German and French companies which cost over 84,000 dollars, while the locally-built one only costs one sixths of the foreign model.

The system has been composed of three parts, a freezing compartment which includes a special electric tap resistant against cold, an electromotor with a propeller for isothermal environment. It is also made up of a heater to dry the environment and a precise thermal sensor which can bear up to 200 c.
