TEHRAN, July. 27 (MNA) After 3 Iranian mountaineers went missing in the Himalayas, Iranian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology said: The international satellite phone operators and organizations delayed locating the missing climbers.
According to Mehr News Agency Ali Eftekhari, Head of Information and Public Relations center for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology stated that after being informed of the missing of the three Iranian climbers in the Himalayas in Pakistan, and with constant efforts of the President and direct orders by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, the ministry urgently formed a special investigation team and contacted the Iranian embassies in Pakistan and China to dispatch rescue missions at the very first hours to try to contact the climbers.

He said: As soon as we were informed of the issue, on the first step the climbers mobile phones were topped up in order to facilitate contacts and remove any credit obstacles so that they would not have any problems with roaming services as well as making phone calls, however due to insufficient facilities at the location, there was almost no chance to make a phone call via GSM.

Eftekhari added: On the second step, the operator of the international satellite phone the climbers used, the operator of the GSM were contacted after constant attempts in order to get precise navigation and geographical information of the climbers location, however unfortunately it took the operator 48 hours to provide the ministry with the requested information about the climbers; even that happened only after they were pressured via constant attempts as well as contacts with International communication and IT organizations and communities.

He pointed out that the international satellite phone operator and the associated organization, neglected the life of these climbers and over the excuse of sanctions, they did not cooperate appropriately with Irans Ministry of communication and Information Technology.
