Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon visit Azerbaijan. Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted the importance of Azerbaijan for South Caucasus and the Caspian Region, calling it the leading state in the region. Azerbaijan plays an important role in maintaining stability.
Russia and Azerbaijan will work on stability and sustainable development of the Caspian Region through oil and gas projects, trade and economic collaboration. Vlasov believes that prospects for cooperation will be the main topic for discussions of their leaders.

Besides economic affairs, Putin will discuss the situation around Iran with account of the upcoming meeting with its new President Hassan Rouhani.

Vlasov added that the list of issues may be supplemented by new topics. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have a new tool at their hands to boost political contacts � cooperation of the public sector, educational and youth structures.
