The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has confirmed that three US-led soldiers have been killed in a bomb blast in eastern Afghanistan.
According to Afghan officials, the bomb hit an Afghan and NATO military convoy in eastern province of Wardak on Tuesday, killing three US-led soldiers and their Afghan interpreter.

Four other Afghan soldiers, who were also in the convoy in Sayed Abad district, were wounded.

No groups have claimed responsibilities for the attack, though Afghan authorities blame Taliban for such incidents.

There has been a surge in militants assaults against Afghan forces, foreign troops, and civilians in the war-torn country, in recent months.

The Taliban earlier announced the start of their annual "offensive" across Afghanistan and vowed to increase their attacks on US-led troops stationed in the country as well as Afghan forces.

The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001, as part of Washingtons so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but the country is still gripped by insecurity.
