French photo artist to serve at Iranian festivals jury panel
Iran has invited the French photojournalist Michel Setboun to the 2013 Rojane InternationalPhotography Festival (RPHF) to serve at the jury panel.
Setboun will attend the panel along with a number of eminent Iranian cineastes including Mahmoud Kalari, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Majid Saeedi and Seifollah Samadian.

The jury members are programmed to judge the works and select some of them for the exhibition.

The planned exhibition will be held at the Iranian Artists Forum in the capital city of Tehran from August 23 to 30, 2013.

The elected photos are also scheduled to be printed in the official book of RPHF 2013.

The works will be assessed in two Major and Special sections. The first is to focus on the issue of water and the second one will concern irrigation.

Michel Setboun was selected for the festivals jury panel due to his noteworthy photos of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Seyyed Rouhollah Khomeini in Neauphles Le Chateau near Paris.

In 1979 Setboun traveled to Iran to take photos on the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. Photos of arrival of Imam Khomeini to Iran are among his remarkable credits.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 34 years ago, ending 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution, under the guidance of Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

The second International Rojane Photography Festival attempts to provide an artistic opportunity for photographers from various nationalities to approach the announced theme, Water.
