Irans successful resistance against foes due to culture, diplomacy: Jalili

Presidential candidate Saeed Jalili says Irans high cultural capacity and public diplomacy are the main reasons behind its successful resistance against the countrys enemies.
In a TV interview on Tuesday night, Jalili said the logic behind Iran's foreign policy is tenable, hence the 120 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement have repeatedly expressed support for Irans right to a peaceful nuclear energy program.

The principlist candidate also said the administration should have a supervisory and managerial role in the countrys economy.

Jalili said if elected president, he will try to channel the countrys high liquidity into the production sector in order to subdue inflation.

The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council also stated the best way to fight corruption is to close the loopholes in the banking and economic regulations.

In Irans June 14 presidential election, Jalili will be competing against Hassan Rohani, who is the director of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, MP Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi.

Iranians will cast their ballots at over 66,000 polling stations across the country in the nations 11th presidential election. Expatriates will also be able to vote at 285 polling stations that will be set up in foreign countries.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.
