Iranian artist Sadeq Tirafkan passes away at 48
Iranian photographer and video artist Sadeq Tirafkan has passed away in the Canadian city of Toronto at the age of 48.
After his long battle with brain cancer, Tirafkan succumbed to the disease that was diagnosed few years ago.

Born in 1965 in Iraq to Iranian parents, Sadeq Tirafkan graduated from Tehran University in Photography in 1989 and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide.

Focused on themes of Iranian traditions and religious rituals, his works including photography, video installation and collage are manifestation of different media in art.

The late artist Sadeq Tirafkans creative collageHuman Tapestryhas garnered several awards at the 2012 Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh.

Human Tapestryrepresents an example of extremely detailed collages which are brought together from many pictures of different individuals into typical patterns for the traditional Persian carpets.

His works are in the collections of several museums including the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, British Museum, Brooklyn Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
