Irans Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has censured the desecration of a revered Muslim figures shrine on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus, by the militants operating in Syria.In a message on Saturday, Larijani expressed deep regret over the recent crime by the terrorists in Syria, who have desecrated the tomb and exhumed the body of Hujr ibn Adi, a close companion of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and a loyal supporter of the first Shia Imam, Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH).
According to reports by online media, the militants in Syria have raided the mausoleum of Hujr ibn Adi in the Damascus suburb of Adra, and taken his remains to an unknown location.
Undoubtedly, such savage acts by the terrorists in Syria are indicative of their disbelief in Islam and the Muslims values, and are regarded as a blatant violation of Islamic and religious sanctities, the Majlis speaker stated.
Larijani called on Muslim religious figures to decry the inhumane measure.
He emphasized that the United Nations and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) shoulder the responsibility to take prompt action to prevent the destruction of the Muslims religious and cultural sites.
