Iran's football legend receives int'l Award

TEHRAN, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Iranian football legend midfielder Ali Parvin was conferred prestigious Gold Award on Friday in recognition of his services in Asian football for 30 years, Tehran Times daily reported on Saturday.
Former player and coach of Persepolis club and Iran's national football team received his award from FIFA President Sepp Blatter in a ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday.

"I am so happy because my collection is completed with this award. I believe that this award belongs to all of Iranian people who supported me over the past 30 years," Parvin was quoted as saying.

Also, Iranian soccer striker Homayoon Behzadi and defender Ali Jabbari, who did not attend the ceremony, were awarded golds in the AFC Distinguished Service Award 2013 in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

A total of 94 AFC Distinguished Service Awards have been bestowed in recognition of their long-serving contribution to Asian football.
