Renault to maintain services in Iran despite sanctions
iran-renault-pars2French giant carmaker Renault is committed to continue its services in Iran despite international sanctions imposedon the Islamic Republic, ISNA quoted Gilles Normand, Renault senior vice president and chairman for Asia-Pacific, as saying.
Iran is one of the main markets for Renault products and the company will meet its obligations to manufacture new products and supply parts to its Iranian customers, Normand said.

Renault plans to establish a regional organization in the Middle East, he said, adding that Iran will be a key element in establishing the organization.

Iran exported 44,682 passenger cars, valued at about $257 million, during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-December 20, 2012), showing 330 percent rise in value compared to the same period last year, ISNA reported.

The number of exported cars showed 284 percent rise in the mentioned period of time.

Iraq was the major importer of Iranian cars, accounting for 98 percent of total imports.

Small numbers of cars were also exported to Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

Iranian car manufacturers produced 72,845 vehicles in the 9th month of the current Iranian calendar year (November 21-December 21, 2012).

The amount showed 1.5 percent increase compared to its preceding month's figure of 71,732 vehicles, IRNA reported.
