Iran pardons inmates to mark Prophets birthday, revolution
Irans Supreme LeaderAyatollah Ali Khameneigranted clemency to 1,298 prisoners following a request from the head of the countrys judiciary.

Ayatollah Khamenei pardoned the inmates or commuted their jail terms on the occasion of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, which Iran observes today, and ahead of the 34th anniversary of the Islamic revolution on Feb. 10, according to his website.

 
Iran warns terrorism coming to Washington
A top Iranian cleric has warned the U.S. and specifically the city of Washington to prepare for retaliation in response to a terror attack in western Pakistan that killed 103 people.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, a senior Iranian religious leader, claims the Jan. 10 massacre of Shiite Muslims in Quetta, Pakistan, was financed by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.

 
Iran on track to sending humans to space: Defense minister
Irans Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the successful mission of Pishgam (Pioneer) spacecraft, which successfully carried a monkey into space, is the first step for Iran towards sending humans into space.


 
US warns Pakistan of sanctions over Iran gas pipeline deal
US Consul General Michael Dodman has said that the US State Department will impose sanctions on Pakistan if it carries on work on the Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline Project. He added it was a clear policy of the US because Iran had violated the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty and was continuing nuclear proliferation.

 

 
U.S. plays down purchase of Iran oil by company in South Korea
The United States played down on Monday a company's purchase of Iranian oil inSouth Korea, saying the American ally shares the objective of keeping pressure on Tehran over its nuclear program through sanctions.
