The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been charged with ensuring the security of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit meeting in Tehran, Commander Mohammad Ali Jafari said, the Mehr news agency reported on Monday.

By order of the commander in chief, ensuring security of the NAM summit is instructed to IRGC, and it, together with the Ministry of Security, Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs ensures security summit in full, Jafari said.

Roughly 110,000 policemen will ensure security of the participants of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran, deputy chief of the Iranian police Ahmedreza Radan said earlier.

He stressed that the joint forces of the Security Ministry, Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry and the army will ensure the protection of the summit participants.

Radan said that in general, security measures both in Tehran and at the venue of the summit were strengthened by four times than usual. Some streets will be closed, and the entrance to some streets will be limited.

The 16th Summit of NAM will be held in Tehran on Aug. 28-29.

The movement is an international organization uniting 118 world countries on principles of non-participation in military blocs.

NAM was formally created by 25 countries at the Belgrade Conference in September 1961.
