Khatami's vote in the 9th parliamentary elections canceled

Ninth round ofparliamentaryelectionsresults in Damavand and Firuzkuh were canceled, thereby Khatami's vote was also canceled.

ISNA quoted Iran's Guardian Council Spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei as saying after Guardian Council analysis, the results of the 9thround ofparliamentaryelections in the areas of "DamavandandFiruzkuh" and "Tonekabon,Ramsar, and Abbas Abad" were canceled.

In the 9th parliamentary elections, former president Mohammad Khatami, the head of the reformists, casted his ballot in the village of Vadan, near the city of Damavand.

Khatami's presenceatthe 9thparliamentary elections pollswas faced with much criticism from reformists, but former president, in response to criticisms, stated that the reason why he participated in the elections was his belief in reform, BBC Persian reported.
